Kitale Catholic Diocese Bishop Maurice Crowley (pictured) has raised concern over stalled projects in Trans Nzoia County even as Governor Patrick Khaemba insists they are almost complete. Bishop Crowley asked the county administration to complete initiated projects before embarking on new ones. He singled out the county referral hospital and the local bus park. Speaking to journalists in his office, the Bishop said residents are incurring huge costs in seeking specialised treatment in Eldoret and Nairobi. However, Governor Khaemba denied that there are stalled projects, saying bad politics and delayed disbursement of funds from the Treasury were to blame. "There are no stalled projects. Works are ongoing on the county referral hospital and the bus terminal and they will be completed before I leave office," he said. The county has spent Sh1.6 billion on the referral hospital and more funds are required to complete and equip the facility. The bus park has consumed some Sh600 million and is yet to be completed.
