A former state governor in Nigeria dies of Coronavirus

Abiola Ajimobi, a former governor of Oyo State, South West of Nigeria is dead. He has been on a life support machine for about a week at First Cardiology Hospital in Ikoyi, Lagos, after slipping into a coma following Coronavirus complications according to media reports.

Media sources disclosed that the 70-year-old, former governor had a lung surgery since he was rushed to the hospital but made no progress while his kidneys had also failed.

The coronavirus has killed several prominent Nigerians including late Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, Abba Kyari, who was also treated for the disease at First Cardiology Hospital until he died.

Nigeria has recorded 22,020 confirmed cases and 542 deaths.
